Throughout October, the Coalition to Stop Violence Against Native Women (CSVANW) recognizes Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) as a time to honor survivors, strengthen prevention, and recommit ourselves to creating safer Native communities.
CSVANW’s 2026 theme, Cycle Breakers Since 1492, honors the generations of Indigenous Peoples who have protected our relatives, preserved our cultures, resisted violence, and worked toward healthier futures for our communities.
This DVAM, we are moving beyond awareness to action. Throughout the month, CSVANW will share culturally grounded education and resources addressing coercive control, economic abuse, technology-facilitated abuse, healthy relationships, survivor support, healing, and community accountability.
At the heart of this campaign is a simple belief: every Native person deserves safety, dignity, love, and belonging.
Breaking cycles of violence requires all of us. Whether we learn to recognize abuse, believe and support survivors, strengthen healthy relationships, challenge harmful behaviors, or advocate for change, each of us has a role in protecting our relatives.
This October, join CSVANW as we honor survivors, celebrate resilience, and continue building a future rooted in safety, healing, joy, and healthy relationships.
Together, we are Cycle Breakers Since 1492.
Healthy Families. Healthy Communities.
