2026 Advocate of the Quarter – Q1
“My name is Sonya Gonzales, and I was raised in Northern New Mexico, where I witnessed firsthand how little support and how few resources were available for those affected by domestic violence in our communities. Seeing the impact it had on individuals and families shaped my perspective and inspired my commitment to helping others find the safety, support, and resources they deserve.
I am currently a Victim Advocate for ENIPC Inc. PeaceKeepers. I have always wanted to go into a field where I could help others, but I was unsure of the path I wanted to take until I was given the opportunity to do this work. As a victim advocate, I am driven to support those who are afraid to face these situations alone, those who need someone who will listen without judgment and stand by them through some of the hardest moments of their lives.
To me, being an advocate means being present, building trust, and walking alongside survivors as they navigate and make their own choices in their healing journey.”
