As a tribal coalition, CSVANW does not provide emergency or direct services.  If you are in an unsafe situation or need immediate assistance please dial 911.

This holiday season, the Coalition is gearing up to once again give back and support our families and communities. Want to help? Here are some ideas on how you can support our mission, vision and work at CSVANW this holiday season.

#GivingTuesday

Giving Tuesday is a global movement that harnesses the collective power of communities to transform how people think about, talk about, and participate in the giving season. Here in our region, the Coalition is working to break the cycles of violence. CSVANW is a member-driven organization, fueled by the strengths and resilience of each one of you- our women and life givers, our men, our communities, our children, our youth, our families and our future generations! We work to support our communities in their efforts to mobilize, empower and inspire our families in the movement to end violence. Please remember us on #GivingTuesday! Together, #WeAreTheMovement. Together, we do more! Donate at our website today at www.csvanw.org/donate

The Giving Tree Book Drive

CSVANW is once again partnering with the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center’s Shumakolowa Gift Shop for the 3rd Annual Giving Tree Book Drive this holiday season to help children who have experienced or witnessed violence cope through connection and storytelling.

Each year, the Giving Tree Book Drive serves to benefit Native children who, because of no fault of their own, will spend their holidays in a shelter due to domestic or family violence. Many of the children arrive with a parent and have little to no personal belongings. At CSVANW, we value ways like this that promote and support family connection and normalcy, especially during times of crisis. Our children deserve to have a memorable holiday season.

The books available to purchase are Native American themed children’s books, written by many southwestern Native American writers. Books to donate may be purchased directly in person from the Shumakolowa Gift Shop located inside the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center at 2401 12th Street NW Albuquerque, New Mexico 87104 or online at www.shumakolowa.com.

The drive will operate now through December 18, 2017.

Womxn Donation Drive

Our Womxn Donation Drive will benefit our relatives who are being served by Street Safe New Mexico. Most of these relatives are from our tribal communities and are survivors of trafficking and/or are living in unsafe situations. Street Safe New Mexico is an all-volunteer 501(c)3 nonprofit that follows a harm-reduction philosophy by striving to reduce the harmful consequences associated with life on the street. Most of the women they serve have been victims of human sex-trafficking, while others have struggled with homelessness, poverty and substance abuse.
Their goal is to protect the physical, medical and emotional health of all marginalized women. We do this by conducting street outreach several times a week, where we provide snacks, feminine hygiene products, pepper spray and personal sanitizing items.
This winter season, CSVANW plans to contribute all items gathered through the Womxn Donation drive to NM Street Safe to continue to help our womxn relatives on the streets with jackets, shoes, personal hygiene, scarves, gloves, beanies, blankets, sleeping bags, and chocolates.  Download a donation flyer here.
