Santa Fe, NM – The Coalition to Stop Violence Against Native Women (CSVANW)will be co-hosting the 5th Annual Indigenous Women’s Day, “ReMatriation: Return to the Land, Return to Ourselves,” held at the NM State Capitol Roundhouse Rotunda in Santa Fe on Saturday, February 8, 2025. This powerful event will gather tribal leaders, community members, youth, and artists to address the critical issues of climate justice, environmental justice, and the vital roles of Native women in their communities.
This event, hosted by CSVANW, My Native Sisters’ Fire, Inc., Laguna Pueblo Federation of Democratic Women, Pueblo Action Alliance, Senator Linda Lopez, Senator Shannon Pinto, and the Three Sisters Collective, will include a variety of presentations, performances, and ceremonies to uplift Native women and families, and highlight the connection between land, fire, and matriarchal roles in our communities.

- 12:00 PM – 12:30 PM: Opening Prayer by Saya’in of Tewa Women United
- 12:30 PM – 1:00 PM: Welcome by Governor Jenelle Roybal & Mescalero President
- 1:00 PM – 1:30 PM: Presentations by Dr. Phobe Suina (Cochiti Pueblo), Youth MCs, and local youth on climate change and fire.
- 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM: Performances from local dancers
- 3:00 PM – 3:30 PM: Call to Action and Closing
Why This Event Matters:
- The ReMatriation event offers an opportunity for communities to reflect on the impacts of environmental justice, climate change, and fire on Native lands and families, while honoring the significant roles that Native women play in their communities.
- Indigenous Women’s Day is a time to stand in solidarity, raise awareness, and support Native women, LGBTQ2S+ relatives, and families affected by violence, climate impacts, and cultural disruption.
- The event will highlight issues such as gender-based violence, human trafficking, and reproductive justice and call for necessary legislative and societal change.
