Albuquerque, NM – The Coalition to Stop Violence Against Native Women (CSVANW) is proud to announce thatTiffany Jiron, Executive Director of CSVANW, will be appointed to the City of Albuquerque’s Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Commission by Mayor Tim Keller on Wednesday, February 19, 2025. This appointment reinforces CSVANW’s unwavering commitment to advocating for the safety and well-being of American Indian and Alaskan Native women and families within Albuquerque and beyond.

As a respected voice for Native women, Tiffany has led CSVANW’s work to address the widespread issues of domestic violence, sexual assault, and trafficking within Native communities. Her role on this commission will bring a much-needed perspective to the table, ensuring that the voices of Native women and communities are heard in local policy and decision-making processes.

In response to this appointment, Tiffany Jiron shared the following:

“I am honored and humbled to serve on the Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Commission for the City of Albuquerque. This is an important opportunity to amplify the voices of Native women, children, and families who are often left out of critical conversations on safety and justice. Our work at CSVANW is rooted in the belief that every person, regardless of their background, deserves to live free from violence and fear. Together, we can build a more inclusive and compassionate response to domestic violence and sexual assault, and I am committed to ensuring that Native communities are fully represented in this essential work.”

CSVANW looks forward to continued collaboration with the City of Albuquerque, the Mayor’s office, and other stakeholders to strengthen the response to domestic violence and sexual assault, with a focus on culturally sensitive solutions that meet the unique needs of Native women and families. This appointment will further the efforts to address these pressing issues while elevating the importance of inclusive, community-driven solutions.
