Empowering Native Youth Leaders Across New Mexico

For 15 years, the Native Youth Summit (NYS) has brought together young Indigenous leaders from across New Mexico to connect, learn, and strengthen their voices in creating safer and healthier communities.

This year, the Coalition to Stop Violence Against Native Women (CSVANW) is honored to host the 15th Annual Native Youth Summit, a 3-day leadership development experience for Native youth ages 13–17

Taking place Tuesday, July 14 through Thursday, July 16, 2026, in Farmington, New Mexico, NYS creates an intentional space where Native youth can build friendships, explore leadership, connect with culture, and recognize the strength they already carry.

At CSVANW, we believe Native youth are not only the leaders of tomorrow. They are the leaders of today.

Our young relatives carry knowledge, creativity, resilience, and deep connections to their communities, cultures, and lands. When Native youth are given the spaces to share their voices, they become powerful advocates for change, healing, and community safety.

Creating Space for Youth Leadership

The Native Youth Summit is more than a gathering. It is a space built for Native youth to grow, reflect, and imagine new possibilities for themselves and their communities.

Through interactive workshops, cultural teachings, activities, and peer connection, participants will explore important topics impacting Native communities, including:

  • Healthy relationships
  • Teen dating violence prevention
  • Domestic violence awareness
  • Cyberbullying and online safety
  • Bystander intervention
  • Supporting LGBTQ+ and Two Spirit relatives
  • Community care and violence prevention

Youth will have opportunities to strengthen leadership skills, build confidence, make healthy value-based choices, and learn how they can create positive change within their schools, families, and communities.

Rooted in Culture, Kinship, and Community

Guided by CSVANW’s values of culture, kinship, innovation, healing, and inclusiveness, NYS centers Indigenous knowledge and the voices of our young relatives.

We know that Native youth already hold solutions within them. This summit creates a space where their experiences are valued, their ideas are heard, and their leadership is celebrated.

By investing in Native youth, we invest in future generations and continue building a movement rooted in healing, safety, respect, and collective care.
