CSVANW Celebrates 30 Years of Advocacy & Healing
Anniversary Fundraiser Set for December 5 at Indian Pueblo Cultural Center
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The Coalition to Stop Violence Against Native Women (CSVANW) will commemorate three decades of Indigenous-led advocacy at its 30th Anniversary Celebration & Fundraiser on Friday, December 5, 2025, at the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center. The event will honor founders Peggy Bird (Kewa), Darlene Correa (Laguna Pueblo), and Genne James (Navajo) and uplift 30 years of community-driven work to end violence against Native women, children, and 2SLGBTQ+ relatives.
Founded in 1995, CSVANW emerged from a vision for survivors to be believed, advocates supported, and Tribal Nations empowered to create safety within their communities. Today, CSVANW provides culturally grounded training, supports survivors and families, and advocates for policy change, including the recent passage of the Turquoise Alert System in New Mexico.
“Thirty years represents generations of Native women, children, and families who fought to reclaim their voices and build safer futures,” said Tiffany Jiron (Isleta Pueblo), Executive Director of CSVANW. “Every training, policy win, and survivor we stand beside is part of a larger movement—one rooted in love, healing, and community care.”
Advocates and partners echo the coalition’s importance. “CSVANW’s work is vital because Native women continue to face disproportionately high levels of violence,” said Kelia Yanito (Nambe Pueblo). Longtime donor Keith Pryor added, “Supporting CSVANW is a meaningful way for me to honor a debt of gratitude to Indigenous Peoples and to strengthen Native-led solutions.”
