  • Angela Gonzales

    New Mexico Highlands Universiry
As a New Mexico Highlands University BSW graduate, I completed my practicum with the CSVANW, where I engaged in work that integrates advocacy, culture, and community. This experience allowed me to align my personal values with meaningful work within Tribal communities while developing both professionally and personally.
  • Jolene Tsinnijinnie

    New Mexico Highlands University
Through this experience, I have learned how culture, kinship, and community support healing in communities by watching relatives' lives change after interacting with them and hearing how much their lives changed after getting aid or space to share their story.

Testimonials

"Working alongside Native communities provided invaluable cross-cultural experiences and deepened my understanding of Native history, traditions, values, family systems, and diverse cultural expressions. I gained insight into the central role of culture, kinship, and community in healing and advocacy, and learned that healing is not linear but grounded in holistic interconnectedness and collective support."
"This experience has influenced my career goals in social work. I want to continue working with victims and survivors of sexual and domestic violence, with a new goal of providing information and education that is accessible and informative for tribal communities. CSVANW has a program like this through technical assistance, but it would be great to have the same idea for youth and elders. This would be wonderful. I am motivated to apply what I have learned at CSVANW as I move forward, committed to empowering and supporting tribal communities through advocacy and education."
