Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month 2026
February marks Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month (TDVAM) – a time to uplift youth, strengthen prevention, and promote healthy, respectful relationships. For the Coalition to Stop Violence Against Native Women (CSVANW), TDVAM is a critical opportunity to center Native youth, address the disproportionate rates of violence impacting young relatives, and reaffirm our collective responsibility to protect future generations.
Native teens today face unique and evolving risks, including digital harms such as cyberbullying, stalking, exploitation, and manipulation through social media. These influences can distort understandings of consent and healthy love, increasing the risk of emotional harm and coercion. These challenges threaten not only individual wellbeing, but also the cultural and relational foundations that sustain our communities.
CSVANW’s February TDVAM campaign responds through youth empowerment, community collaboration, and culturally responsive prevention. Through partnerships with schools and youth programs, educational trainings, and resource development for families, advocates, and tribal leaders, we work to strengthen the systems that support and protect Native youth. Our 2026 theme: Empowering Native Youth to Build a Healthier Future, centers the voices, creativity, and resilience of Native teens as leaders and change-makers.
This February, we invite families, educators, advocates, and community leaders to stand with Native youth, creating spaces for honest conversation, modeling healthy relationships, and carrying forward teachings rooted in respect, dignity, and collective care. Together, we are advancing a future where Native teens can thrive, feel safe, and experience love that honors who they are and who they are becoming.
