The New Mexico Tribal Leaders Summit is a convening of tribal leaders that focuses on the federal, state and tribal laws as they relate to addressing and responding to violence in New Mexico tribal communities. The role of tribal leaders in the implementation of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) and the Tribal Law and Order Act (TLOA) are discussed and the summit highlights the unique tribal, state and federal perspectives and challenges tribal communities face regarding the response to violence, specifically violence against women.
